Job Title: Controller

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the full cycle accounting and finance function. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both strategic and operational environments—owning day-to-day accounting while improving systems, reporting, and processes. Experience in a nonprofit setting is a strong plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee full cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close
• Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Produce and analyze sales reports to support business decision-making
• Maintain and optimize accounting systems, with a focus on Sage
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve workflows, and enhance reporting capabilities
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Support audits and liaise with external accountants and stakeholders
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing leadership and performance management

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
• Strong background in full cycle accounting and financial management
• Hands-on experience with Sage (or similar ERP/accounting systems)
• Demonstrated ability to manage AP, AR, payroll, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Background

• Experience in a nonprofit organization (highly desirable but not required)
• Track record of improving and automating accounting processes
• Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a growing or evolving environment
