Quality Control Manager / Lead Inspector
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager or Lead Inspector to oversee quality operations within a precision machine shop environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing inspections, leading quality initiatives, and ensuring products meet customer, industry, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day quality control operations within the machine shop
- Perform hands-on inspections of incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products
- Utilize precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM equipment
- Develop and maintain inspection procedures, quality standards, and inspection plans
- Train and mentor inspection and quality personnel on best practices and inspection techniques
- Manage workflow, priorities, and quality team performance
- Prepare and support First Article Inspections (FAIs)
- Review inspection and production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconforming materials
- Partner closely with production and engineering teams to improve quality, reduce scrap, and increase efficiency
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, audits, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, AS9100 standards, and applicable regulations
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of machining processes, GD&T, and inspection methods
- Experience using CMMs and precision measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and tolerances
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience leading or mentoring quality or inspection teams
- Familiarity with ERP systems or quality management software
- Aerospace or high-precision manufacturing experience is a plus
