Project Billing Specialist — Professional Services Location: Rhode Island area | Onsite (hybrid after onboarding)
A well-established professional services firm is seeking an experienced Project Billing Specialist to join its growing finance team. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a stable, respected New England company offering strong benefits and real room to grow.
This is not a transactional, data-entry billing role. You’ll take full ownership of the project billing process — partnering directly with Project Managers, aligning billing to contract terms and project progress, and resolving issues before they become problems.
What you’ll do
- Manage end-to-end billing for a portfolio of projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Work closely with Project Managers to review invoices and keep billing aligned with contract terms
- Handle a mix of billing types (T&M, lump sum, percent complete)
- Research and resolve discrepancies; process credits/debits and respond to billing inquiries
- Support month-end close and provide documentation for audits
- Identify ways to streamline billing and improve consistency across the team
What you bring
- 2+ years of project billing experience in a project-based environment (professional services, engineering, construction, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
- Associate degree in Accounting or Finance
Details
- Direct-hire, full-time
- Onsite during the initial training/onboarding period, with hybrid flexibility afterward
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Reliable transportation required
Compensation: 60k-75k
