Vice President of Business Development

Position Summary

The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives, expanding market presence, and developing new business opportunities for the firm. This executive role focuses on acquiring institutional and high-net-worth clients, cultivating strategic partnerships, increasing assets under management (AUM), and supporting revenue growth across investment products including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, fixed-income securities, and portfolio management services.

The Vice President works closely with executive leadership, portfolio managers, financial advisors, compliance, and marketing teams to identify growth opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and position the firm as a trusted investment partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the firm’s growth objectives.
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new institutional, corporate, family office, and high-net-worth client relationships.
  • Build strategic partnerships with financial institutions, broker-dealers, registered investment advisors (RIAs), pension funds, endowments, and other investment professionals.
  • Lead efforts to increase assets under management (AUM) and overall firm revenue.
  • Collaborate with investment professionals to develop customized investment solutions for prospective clients.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging investment opportunities, competitive trends, and new business prospects.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, investment forums, and client meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and investment overviews to prospective clients and partners.
  • Work closely with marketing to develop campaigns that generate qualified leads and strengthen brand awareness.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of business opportunities using CRM systems and performance reporting tools.
  • Negotiate business agreements and partnership contracts while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure all business development activities comply with SEC, FINRA, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Monitor business development metrics, prepare executive reports, and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Mentor and lead business development professionals to achieve individual and team performance goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • MBA, CFA, CFP, or other advanced financial designation preferred.
  • FINRA Series 7, Series 63, Series 65, or Series 66 licenses preferred or required, depending on the firm’s business model.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in investment management, wealth management, capital markets, financial services, or institutional sales.
  • Proven track record of generating significant revenue growth and acquiring new investment clients.
  • Strong understanding of equity markets, fixed-income securities, portfolio management, and investment products.
  • Experience working with institutional investors, financial advisors, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team development capabilities.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to regulatory compliance.
