Pharmacy Manager, Hematology/Oncology

  • Location: Boston, MA
  • Schedule: Full Time, onsite
  • Compensation: $160,000 to $180,000 plus negotiable sign-on bonus

Must-Haves

  • Degree in Pharmacy (Bachelor’s or PharmD)
  • One of the following: PGY-1 + PGY-2 Specialty or HSPAL Residency; PGY-1 + 2 years of pertinent experience; or 4 years of pertinent experience
  • Licensed as a pharmacist in Massachusetts by the hire date

Nice-To-Haves

  • Hematology/Oncology experience
  • Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA) and/or accredited residency with some leadership experience

About the Role

A leading Boston-area healthcare organization is seeking a Pharmacy Manager to lead and manage its oncology pharmacy team. This role oversees daily operations, staff leadership, and strategic initiatives to improve patient care while ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage daily pharmacy operations and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and SOPs for safe, high-quality service
  • Oversee medication management: procurement, preparation, storage, and distribution
  • Oversee high-cost drug utilization for ambulatory Hematology/Oncology and specialty drugs
  • Supervise and develop pharmacy staff, including recruitment, evaluations, training, and scheduling
  • Foster a supportive, accountable, and engaged work environment
  • Participate in budget development, cost-saving initiatives, and drug budget management
  • Manage productivity and staffing to meet performance standards
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to develop programs that optimize patient outcomes
  • Train and mentor staff, PGY2 oncology residents, and students
  • Lead quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide on-call support for urgent operational and clinical needs

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of pharmacy systems, procedures, and equipment
  • High analytical, organizational, and personal management ability
  • Experience evaluating and improving pharmacy services through data
  • Experience implementing or revising information systems
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills across departments
  • Proficiency with standard office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with pharmacy/clinical database systems (QS1, Centricity, Meditech, Cerner, EPIC, SCM, etc.) a plus
