Company Controller
Manchester, CT | On-Site | 4-Day Work Week
An established and growing manufacturing organization in the Manchester, CT area is seeking an experienced Company Controller to lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations while partnering closely with the CFO and senior leadership team.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who understands the complexities of a manufacturing environment, including cost accounting, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and operational analysis.
Compensation & Schedule
- Base Salary: $140,000–$145,000
- Annual Bonus: 12%
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday
- 4-day work week with approximately 10–12-hour days
- 100% on-site in Manchester, CT
- Reports directly to the CFO
- Leadership responsibility for 3 direct reports
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, identifying key trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in partnership with the CFO and department leaders.
- Manage and enhance the organization’s manufacturing cost accounting processes, including analysis of labor, materials, overhead, margins, and production costs.
- Oversee inventory accounting and valuation for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Manage fixed assets, capital expenditures, depreciation, and related financial controls.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate external audits and serve as a primary point of contact for financial documentation and audit requests.
- Perform profitability, variance, cash flow, and operational financial analysis to support business decisions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals.
- Partner closely with operations, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and executive leadership to improve financial and operational performance.
- Support the CFO with strategic planning, investment analysis, process improvement initiatives, and other company-wide financial projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- CPA or CMA designation is strongly preferred.
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- At least 3 years of accounting/finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Previous experience leading or developing accounting personnel.
- Experience working within an ERP environment; Epicor experience is highly desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and pivot tables.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
