Position Overview

• Role: Kitchen Associate / Utility Pot Washer

• Pay & Type: $20/hour | Open-ended temporary position

• Schedule: 5:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 5 days per week (varies based on kitchen needs; 100% onsite, essential during weather/emergencies)

• Reports To: Executive Sous Chef

Summary of Responsibilities

• Meal Service & Dining Support: Set up, serve, and break down breakfast and meal lines; prepare sandwiches and bag lunches; count and record guests served; clean dining areas.

• Kitchen & Utility Maintenance: Operate commercial dishwashers; wash pots, pans, and equipment; record rinse-water pH levels; sweep, mop, manage trash, and clean heavy kitchen equipment (ovens, stoves, walk-ins, etc.).

• Food Prep & Catering: Assist cooks with food preparation, food delivery, and special catered events; properly store deliveries.

• Teamwork & Professionalism: Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and donors; maintain a professional, patient, and compassionate demeanor.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Communication:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate satisfactorily in English.

• Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in meal prep, catering, kitchen tools/equipment operation, knife skills, or customer service.

• Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift at least 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and work in walk-in refrigerators/freezers.

• Mental Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage changing priorities, and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
