Key Responsibilities & Details

A growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Working Foreman / Superintendent to lead field operations on a variety of civil and sitework projects.

This is a hands-on field leadership position. We are looking for someone who can plan and direct the day’s work while still being directly involved in construction when needed. The right candidate will be equally comfortable coordinating a crew, reading plans, checking grade, operating equipment, installing utilities, and working alongside the team.

Projects may include excavation, underground utilities, drainage, grading, concrete, demolition, site development, structures, and other civil construction work.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily field activities

  • Lead crews and maintain productivity, safety, and quality

  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, grades, elevations, and layout

  • Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and manpower

  • Perform and oversee excavation, utility, drainage, grading, and sitework activities

  • Operate construction equipment when needed

  • Work directly alongside the crew when required

  • Communicate with project management, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders

  • Identify field issues and develop practical solutions

  • Anticipate upcoming project needs and help keep work moving efficiently

Qualifications

  • Significant hands-on sitework or heavy civil construction experience

  • Previous Foreman, Superintendent, Lead Operator, or similar leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of excavation, underground utilities, drainage, grading, and site construction

  • Ability to read construction plans and understand layout, grades, and elevations

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations

  • Experience coordinating crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment when necessary

  • Strong commitment to jobsite safety and quality

  • Willingness to remain actively involved in the work rather than operating solely in a supervisory capacity

This opportunity is best suited for an experienced civil construction professional who leads from firsthand field experience and is comfortable doing whatever is necessary to move a project forward.

Compensation is competitive and based on experience.
